That thing looks like a beat to hell hunk of shit. If you're going to do it, do it right.

this is my friend's properly done turbo speedIII.

that thing is gonna blow. That turn signal must be metal;)((just noticed that was an intake pipe)) im not sure about the oil feed lines to the turbo either. from the looks of it they just ran a feed line to it, i doubt its getting enough oil to it.

Vcook, your friends bike is nice, any more pics?

shift, I did a small write up for him on our local sportbike board. His pictures, but he didnt want to write it so I cobbled it together as best I could from what he told me and what I saw in photos. The bike is sick. He had a 98 turbo'd triple before this one and ironed out all the kinks.

That is the bike featured in Rapid, its in a constant state of development and rides daily.
I'm going to have a go at him about that bolt ;)

Both bikes have some similar features as the guys talk to each other regulary , Gregs bike uses Waynes engine management, and Wayne was one of the first to fit the GSXR forks.

[:I] oops, not Waynes, they must be getting common ;)

Adding a turbo to a speed trip is about the only way I'd want one. I went and test rode a new 06 this past summer and I was very disappointed after comming off my K6. It just had no guts and rev'd out real fast, I could never live with it stock. I love the look though and the new tail is sweet, just down on power. Not sure how well a turbo would work on a bike that revs out so fast, you'd constantly be shifting and looking for more gears. Not bashing, I love the bike, just wasn't impressed with the power.

Last time I talked to the owner he had raised the gearing on it(same as his old turbo speedIII) and it still power wheelied in 3rd. Gearing it higher should solve that shifting issue you're talking about. hahaha!!

It's a tight bike, and he rides it often which is nice to see for a bike with so much time and money in it. I hope my '03 gixxer1k comes out half as nice. [:p]

Most stock bikes would be a little lacking after a K6 wouldn't they?;)
Was it just power or did it lack in other areas Smokey? They certainly are a great looking bike those triples...cept for those cans!

I thought it was lacking after a test ride also, and I ride a Bandit.

Pattern forming here!I'd better go and get a test ride on one...see how it stacks up against the old 750K,that's 89 750K.I'm starting to think I'll be 3 hours behind everyone else on the road to Dubbo, although I probably still would be if I was on a turbo busa as well!![:I]

Yeah, I guess it's not a fair comparison but I've ridden the Daytona and I figured the Speed would have the same power, it didn't.. Other the the lack of power the bike felt really good. I liked the new tail section much better and I'm sore a nice set of carbon cans would give the sound of a beast. I've also owned a 1200 Bandit and the Speed seemed much lighter and more nimble but the Bandit has more balls.

how does it compare to the old tripple? I was somewhat impressed with the sprint rs and the older tripple motor, the 595 not the 509. granted its not the same game. But hey i even had fun on the old tt600 so maybe im not a good judge either [8D]

matt i have read a couple of comparos of the old and the new and they all say the new is the ducks guts, however against a new 1000 four not much is really going to cut it. remember they are also 3 and a bit thousand cheaper!

Greg’s turbo on the 1050 Speed Triple is a variable vain aero-charger self contained oiling….. Very nice bit of kit but they are big$$$$ if you can get one.

shift1313: Gary’s turbo kit on his Speed Triple has a Garret GT series turbo, minimum oil pressure is 5psi at idle and 1.8ltr per minute. No it’s not going to blow!!!! His bike has over 70k’s on it and it kicks ass. He is now doing a lot of track days with that bike and he loves it……

Yeh, he knew about the bolt and was on his way to me for a spare one…… We all lose things from our bikes from time to time…… Even control of them!!!!!!

That bike is his pride and joy and he won’t appreciate you shitcanning it on the Net!

Racecomp doesn’t have a turbo Triumph? Wrong, we have a few!!!! Here’s some better pictures of the hunk of shit…..

Hey Vcook, while we’re at it, how about you show us your bike then?

vcook. i think you need a new expansion chamber on that cr125:) I also noticed you have a ducati drawer on your tool box, what do you keep in there:D my computer is a kerker pitbull triumph simpson streetfighter by the way;) and no its not any faster,

racecomp. the pics you posted look much better. I think the cell phone pics are deceptive. Did he have to upgrade the oiling system in the triumph at all? I know there is an oil feed line on the back right side of the head, is that oil line something he tapped in to the block, i cant recall one being there. I shouldnt have said it was going to blow without knowing anything about the bike. First impression of it with the blurry pic, that fitting looked rigged. Its obvious from your pics that alot of time and effort went into the bike.

I dont want to drag this thread off topic, I should probably make some sort of intro thread about my project instead of just lurking. I do have wheels, here they are:

I was afraid someone was going to notice that expansion chamber, hahahaha! good eye. As for the ducati drawer, I just tossed that sticker on there when I owned a 748.

i was just giving you a hard time. ive got stickers on everything except my toolbox for some reason. I have a tv stand thats a suzuki action video dealer thing and its covered.

motocross is my roots so anytime i see a bike i have to comment. Its hard to tell from the pic but is it a 94-95.

good guess, it's a 97 last of the steel frames. though visually the same as a 94-95.
