And this is the definition of an approved motorbike helmet:
approved motorbike helmet means a helmet that complies
with—
(a) AS 1698–1988; or
(b) another standard the chief executive considers is at least
equal to that standard.

In the UK I wore a Simpson for years.
Was told to quote to the cops the bit in the law
that says "Helmets should be of British Standard...
OR OF EQUAL SAFETY VALUE" (USA Snell?) Never got a ticket,
never had the lid taken off me. Not sure if its the same
here but what Bo wrote is similar.

Nah Watevr, I haven't bought from there. That's the actual manufacturers site so it has all the stuff. As Boh said, there are importers over here in Aus, just do your research to compare prices as sometimes it's cheaper to buy direct.

i spent abit looking at this helmet on display at BMW newstead ( demo only...[V]:( fukkers ) and will buy one to use for my off roader when i get it BUT you can pretty much un bolt the visor and replace the waste space with a rubber washer, Instant fighter lid.

FYI guys.. Simpson is no longer made in the USA. They were bought out by some asian company and the quality has gone to shit.. I would not buy one for my head no matter how good they look.

Sorry.. Correction, they are owned by an Asian company but the plantin US is still open. I've been told quality standards have gone way down though and I still wouldn't buy a new one.

I have an original Outlaw. I love it. I crashed in it at 80mph. Big nasty drag mark down to the fiberglass. Still wearing it (main because I can't afford another one right now). That Raider is sick though. Think I just found my next lid. Did hear about the buy out though. That sucks.

My lid in it's current state
