Have got leave pass from better half, not had time to do my quickshift, replaced "O" rings around head stud nuts AGAIN.. oil leak stopped though!, bought Joe Rocket riding shoes, adjusted tappets, well one anyway!, not found any 1150EFE cams yet, not had time to fit 36mm flatslides yet... will only have time to do oil and filter change when I get back home before going there.... BUT... I WILL be there!! Now all I have to do is run faster than Joe... I just hope I can get into the 11s

Cheers
Reg.

12-12-2006, 09:05 PM
The stage 1 cams for the GSX1100's are the same profile as the GSX1150's Mega. If you're into aftermarket.

Joe, its been 24 years since I ran down the strip, my bike is 25 years old and i'm an old fat bastard now, if I get down to the 11s, i'll be very happy, either way, I will be having a shitload of fun... bring it on I say.

See you there Joe.

Joe's Motorcycle Wreckers (CBR) have a set out there. Still in the motor I think, but they'll seperate them.
Let me know if you're interested and I'll chase them up about'em.

Chalkie, that sounds good, yeah, i'm real interested, if you could find out how much, it would be appreciated, thanks.

A week too late I'm afraid.

Somebody from Melbourne wanted cams as well, and they took the whole motor for $500 apparently.

Sorry about that mate.

Already told you Ozkat that i'll be there, if the weather is shit i'll call you around 12ish to see if your out there yet. if not i'll see you there. You rekon you'll be at the loading platforms again ?

ozkat
13-12-2006, 08:44 PM
Onya Boh, ill be there. You just gotta make it 2-0 against that Turbo Busa ;) but i really seriously doubt your chances (my money is on you tho) Should be a great day. I reckon 90+ bikes.

ozkat
18-12-2006, 07:03 PM
It would be nice to outnumber the OSB crew who go to the shootouts at Willowbank. Most of them on GSXR1000s and R1s and a few ZX14s but lucky to crack a 11sec et. Its a great chance for older bikes to kick newer bikes right up the arse.

Tony Nitrous

I'll try and be there.

Same stock"ish" spec as last time.

Not expecting anything flash, just want to keep
getting some runs in and practice.

You'll be right mate, just point it straight, remove brains & open throttle. [:0];)
Oh & remember to stop at the other end, might be an idea for any first timers to grab Shayne or another experienced racer & find out just where the finish line, return road etc, etc. are.
I'll be late thanks to fuckin work so i hope you all get plenty of runs in.
Rick

Hey Matt... what Rick says... remove brain, but I remember my first run (oh so long ago...), I got to the first line at the end and thought "ah, thats it, I won on my first run"... and then backed off, I got beat....
There are 3 lines (this was 24 years ago), the first and last were for measuring your speed and the middle one is the actual time mark, but really, all you need to do is just keep the throttle wide open.. and have fun, see you Saturday.

Cheers
Reg.

matt, you should piss in low 12's!!

even the all mighty powerfull sv650 get down there in (super consistant mind you :P) 12.4 sec.

i think i'll stand to loose another 0.2 MAX from re-jigging my launch. so even im a posiblity of running 12.2's.

no doubt the z1000 shall shit all over the poor little sv

Good times there mate your last run was close to your best .006 off and same top speed as your fastest i normally start to loose the plot towards the end of the day and 9 runs for the day is awesome.

Tony Nitrous
23-12-2006, 07:46 PM
Quite a few bikes there but I could have got
loads more runs in if I'd wanted too.
I wimped out a bit to find some shade and to get
a cold drink whilst I checked out Sasha's sunburn.
T'was a bit warm.

Been taking off with lots of Clutch.
No spin and no wheelies.
First time I tried to put the power down quick it
all turned crap.
Suppose thats why others burn out and I never do.

Think I have a lot to learn.

Great pics Jarrod :D well done matey

Well it was an interesting day for me ... got fairly consistent times but just could not put it all together for a PB pass.

Mt times ....

Best ET 11.001
Best KPH 202.52
Best MPH 125.84
Best Reaction 0.460
Best 60 Ft time 1.894

Last meet the R1 was run with a lowered and solid rear end and a strapped front end and it ran 10.8 with slipping clutch and missed gear changes .... This meet it was run in full " ride in ride out " street trim, so i'm not real sure if that affected my times ??

I cooked the clutch at the last shootout, and had a new barnett clutch in for this meeting, so it was difficult to get the bike off the line without standing it up vertical and bogging down. I also seem to have lost a few MPH, so maybe some dyno time might be in order :D

abusa
26-12-2006, 12:53 PM
Was a good day albeit a hot one. Unfortunately I didn't get a lot of time to catch up with everyone here, busy playing with my bike.

Sounds like some great results inspite of the heat. Mine picked up from my last outing with a PB of 9.488@149MPH with a 1.64 60ft. Still plenty in it with a gear change on low boost.

I thought the Pro Bikes were a good addition to the event giving the crowd something more to see for their money.

G'day Jarrod,
Thanks for the offer mate. I was riding a green ZX7R with a satin black GSXR tail unit and half fairing. I was wearing black and yellow leathers. Ozkat has my bike in a couple of his pics on the previous page. Its only the second time I have run the bike and I'm a bit slack when it comes to pic's. Thanks again.

Paul.

Hey, thanks Jarrod, I did get a surprise when I had a look at your photos, you have captured the old fat fart on the Kat no. 887, my Partner liked that photo, have you anymore? and can I use them for myself?
I did find it a bit hard to take photos of myself.
Thanks
Reg.

Thanks Jarrod, Great photos, the "Rat Kat" will be presented a bit better the next time I have another run.

As for what time I did... well.... the quick answer is 12.3....
The long answer is... 24 years does make a difference (was doing 11.7 back in '82), and I guess I had a subconcious desire not to give it full wellie.... I know I have a cracked drive shaft bearing (inboard of the front sprocket), the spline is worn badly (about half of it), I have 40,000k's on the clock, but with the wear on that spline, it could be at least another 100,000 or 200,000k's maybe, it was supposed to have a big bore kit in it, when I got it in June this year, the clutch slipped badly... that is fixed now and I have been on the dyno and now the 1/4 mile, it tells me that it is a standard bore.
I have a spare transmission, barrel, clutch basket, just waiting on getting a spare head and cams from somewhere and then the big rebuild goes ahead with that motor, I have most of the bitz of an EFE motor coming sometime and THAT motor will be a bit wild, so maybe around this time next year I will be doing much better times, Si has posted my time on the bragging board and I will be making them look better eventually.

Oh, and on the way back from Willowbank, at Clayfield, there was a yellow Kat on its back wheel going through a set of lights... I thought to myself.."looks good mate.. shame we weren't going in the same direction... we could have had some fun!"

Shit... I've rambled on a bit.. better get back to work..
Cheers
Reg.

Nice one, was that in August? I was there but was very sick, Doctors orders not to do too much, thus did not ride, yours is very well presented, shame you did not get to go to this one, I would have liked to have a good look at it.
Cheers. <boss cracking whip in background>
