Hey Guys. Hagarr sent me in this email with a write up on his Harris. Check it out:

"This is one of my bikes "Hagar(r) the Horrible". I've owned the bike since 1984 when it originally started out as a Z9 engined Harris but I got sick and tired of rebuilding Kumunsukmi engines so in 1995 bought a Gixxer engine and set about modifying it to suit.
It is currently being tidied up after finally getting all bracketing and Gixxer bit's modified to suit. The list of current and to be completed is as follows, 2004 R1 USD forks and Radials. ZXR 750 front wheel with 320's, currently runs white power rear but have just purchased Ohlins, CBR1000F rear wheel, Bodywork original Magnum. I've been tempted to change the seat unit but thats the era it came from so it stays (Not in Photo). Motor is currently built to short fitted with Busa pistons I am currently finishing cylinder head which will be fitted with Titanium Springs and retainers, Ferrea valves std cams. Turbo from a 300zx but may go bigger if I can fit it in. You can appreciate there is fuck all room in a Harris so I have a 300zx unit which I know will physically fit at this stage. I have purchased Gixxer1000 fuel injection and wiring harness with Power commander. Gixxer1000 dash.
I will send some more pic's as it gets closer
As I do ALL of my own machining (Spent 15 years as an Automotive Machinist) and modifying it has taken me a while to finish but i'm getting there. My plan at this stage is to have it going for next years AFR might even try and ride it if the body will take it."

Thanx for that Gix i've been trying to post my pic for ages. It was fairly mental with the 1216 and 150rwhp so goodness knows what to expect with turbo albeit a small one.

Whats the finish on the frame?
HPC? Powdercoat? Painted?
The frame looks fantastic.

Cheers

A mate of mine runs a paint shop in Perth and he's always painted all my stuff. He's fucking good. 2 pac I can't remember the colour. He picks the colour. I'll have to ask. I went for 2 pac as the colour choices in powdercoating are pretty lame. My missus won't let me choose what to wear she reckons my colour sense is fucked. What's wrong with blue socks and red shorts?

That gold frame looks great. I look foward to seeing the finished product at AFR08.

that thing looks awesome!!! I cant wait to see more pics. Im really curious as to where the motor sits. Doest your top chain actually run under the swingarm or is the motor set that high?

thats absolutly horny mate ..would love to see it in the flesh

Hagarr
30-04-2007, 08:48 AM
Shifty the chain runs over the top of the swingarm. The set of engine mounts you see (Anodized red) are the third and final? set that I made. Current bikes run the swingarm pivot to sprocket centre at +15mm to act as a form of squat and as I was having problems keeping the front down I had to try everything to help it stay down. I really should change the arm but it's so much fun as it is. Maybe when the snail is fitted it might change my mind.

shift1313
30-04-2007, 09:58 AM
whats your swingarm angle on that thing? ive got mine at 11degrees and though it was up there

Hagarr
30-04-2007, 10:48 AM
I'll have to stick it all in AutoCad and work it out. It's probably not ideal it's made worse by the fact I jacked the back up by extending the shock length. For two reasons one to get more weght bias onto the front (I now have 52% front 48% rear static)and to decrease the rake angle. The frame geometry is based on 70's technology so it has a very lazy 26 degrees. The R1 forks have only just been fitted as I used to run RG250 USD with internals modified to suit 91 Gixxer but this didn't allow me any latitude in setup as they were extremely short. No doubt there will be some adjustments when it's up and running.

hagarr i run 52.5% front weight bias and it makes a world of difference. Im sitting at about 22.9degree rake and 3" trail.

Your swinarm angle wont make the bike handle bad if your motor sits as high as it looks. Here is a pic i drew for a frame geometry thread on another board.

http://filebox.vt.edu/users/maperez/Cad%20Drawings/Frame%20Geometry.JPG

as long as your chain pull angle is more then your weight transfer angle and your pole of moments is lower then your center of gravity it should handle like its on rails. Once those angles are close or the your PoM is above your center of gravity you get some weird things happening.

14-05-2007, 09:36 PM
Oh! fuck me it`s still a real bike[:X]1313 wot the fuck is your piont[8D] A Harris will be nerUSS no matta[:p]slappin a snail onit is gonna make shitfull[:o)]
A bloke asked me long ago about big blocks:)now he had the best ZED i seen[8D]BRG & was on the stone run.To take it down he say "i shoulda kept it standard,i fucked a totally great bike.
Wot i`m trying to say;)is that most of the time the factory has done the shit for you;)
Just tune it[:p]

Hagarr

Mad Mundy you're spot on. When it had an 1105 Kumunsukme I could rev that mother all day at 10500 all day. Then I went to 1260 Zed sled motor and was a handfull but horribly unreliable. The 1216 Gixxer was mental if you came out of a roundabout in the wrong gear the fucker would attempt to cartwheel EVERY time. The problem I find is it had 148 RWHP which with that wheelbase is fun to say the least. The Gixxer has so much torque and is always lofting the front but i'll get to my point it needs more horsepower to enable me to rear wheel steer it a bit where as at the moment it just accelerates and fucken hard. Not to say I'm capable of doing so but i'll sure have fun trying.

15-05-2007, 07:42 PM
Power then is not the issue[8)]maybe then 1313 has a point;)the way i see it is[8D]make the bike wot ya wont;)
If ya havta change it so much,ya bought the wrong bike:DI been doin crazy shit for years[:o)]
If ya wanna lay blackie`s[:p]ya got ta look at another frame;)or lengthen ya "trail" so ya can catch her on the way out;)

shift1313
15-05-2007, 09:28 PM
or just put a thinner tire on the rear:) my stock gpz could lay strips with the stock 130 tire all day long. I loved steppin it out in corners.

Hagarr
15-05-2007, 09:53 PM
With the old technology I can't run bigger than 170 Section rear. Frame width too narrow at the swingarm pivot. if I use Dunlop tyres they seem to spread on a 5.5" to 175. But still can't induce wheelspin. i'll admit i'm a wuss. A mate of mine and I had a run one day it was tops. He was on a stock 88 with a pipe and I was on Hagarr. He was pinned on the tank he reckons he saw 190k andf i was still trying to keep the front wheel down and disappearing Man that was fun.

Hagarr
15-05-2007, 10:12 PM
Mundy i'll have to start calling you Nostradamus. You are spot on the money with what you are saying but that's why I ride what I ride and you ride what you ride if you put Hagarr up against a Hayabusa we all know the result the factory does a magnificent job and I can never expect to beat the factories at their own game but by geez i'll be snapping at their heels. i've owned this bike since 1984 and revved the fuck out of it since day one and had a ball like all of us that's why we love this shit because you start to feel alive and no gov or piece of shit is going to take that away Fuck Em Vive la Revolution. Go to town you fuckers.

This last couple of years has been a Baptism of fire in Business and Home life and I haven;t been able to spend the time I would have liked on "Hagarr" but I am slowly getting there.

I have decided to not Turbo as I really need to get this latest incarnation going and to go the next step I just can't put the hours in to what It requires and I wouldn't be happy without doing the job properly.

So 1370 N/A it is with '02 Gixxer thou injection '04 R1 front end numerous other improvements from when I first bought it in '84

Fuck ACT Angler you might not appreciate how hard it was to do the tail thing,it has taken me years to get my head around doing this.

Not forgetting of course it started out with wire wheels, skinny forks Kawasaki engine , you couldn't do that to many rides and get away with how this thing looks, My opinion entirely of course.
