Anyone has ideas on bike friendly accom in Goulburn?

Iceman

Sounds like a plan, I'm not really fussed, 3 or 4 days, I can get the time off no worries.(Part of my job is to plan and approve everybody's leave!);)

I'll join up with the group at Oxley. 9 o'clockish if it's a 3 day ride or 11 ish if it's 4 days.

As for the final leg Newcastle to Macksville, I reckon the Pacific Hwy is the go. The quicker we get there the earlier we can, 'Let the drinking begin'.:D

Zed14
04-03-2006, 09:17 PM
the point of this trip is the ride there once there we will be drinking. the pacific hwy is a shit road full of roadworks. wankers in cars and cops. thunderbolts way s a good ride and going up that way is worth it. just ask deano hes done it. its up to you lot but you will miss out on some good riding.

Iceman
05-03-2006, 07:19 AM
I'll have to take your word for it Rexie, I've never been up that way. Looks like the Thunderbolt road it is then.

Zed14
05-03-2006, 11:17 AM
i drive the pacific hwy 6 times one week and four times the next. believe me its not the way you want to go.

Foxy
06-03-2006, 11:35 AM
Well Just handed in my leave of absence form and got the green light from the boss, so I'm all set for the four day run.

Rexie, I only added Pacific Hwy as an option due to the amount of K's we will be doing in order to get to Newcastle.
Some may not feel up to a 7 hour ride on the last day, and prefer to piss on as soon as possible.
There's always the ride home too.
If I'm up to it I'd prefer to do Thunderbolt way as well.

Iceman
06-03-2006, 12:39 PM
Ok, it looks like a four day run up.

What's the plan for the return trip Foxy?

What day are you plan'n on gett'n home?

Foxy
06-03-2006, 01:11 PM
The trip back will be a bit of improvising of the route up.
Maybe a half day ride leaving some time in the afternoon on Sunday.
Plan on getting home on the Wednesday.

06-03-2006, 06:07 PM

i need people to wake me up otherwise i will sleep in til midday :D

Iceman
06-03-2006, 11:54 PM
Just look'n at the plan Fimp, both the 3 and 4 day rides end up in Newcastle on the Friday, so they'll probably only be 15 - 20 of us:D

fimpBIKES
07-03-2006, 11:43 AM
i can fit that many bikes off-street parking
might have to bunk on the living room floor though...

TurboKat
08-03-2006, 08:23 PM
Righto all, I've just got off the blower to Deano & Shano & we need to clear a few things up. [?]
We'll be doing the 4 day run & we're keen to stop off at Chateau Chalk for a bbq lunch & a couple while we're in Canberra on Thursday, so if you're offering Chalky, we're gratefully accepting. :)
Also, we reckon the Sydney crew could meet us at Windsor or somewhere to do the stretch from there to Newy if there's anyone interested.
Accomodation at Newy seems to be at Casa del Fimp, if that offer still stands Fimp, & you can house maybe 10 of us (most of us are happy to sleep on the floor) then we're in thanx mate. :)
Are the Newy crew all getting to Macksville via Thunderbolts? If so, it would make sense to assemble the Vic, Syd & Newy crews at the same meet point & all ride up together.
We're highly flexible, us Mexicans, so let us know if all this is too hard & we'll <s>tell you all to get fucked</s> I mean, work something out. ;)

08-03-2006, 08:41 PM
Rexie might be able to accomodate a few mexicans too, just tell him i said you can stay there.;)

fimpBIKES
08-03-2006, 08:41 PM
sounds good to me,

what time would you be planning on getting to newy?
i could be home after work any from about 4, maybe i could meet u all at the end of the F3 and guide u all to the fimpCAVE??

08-03-2006, 08:46 PM
I'll get in the meat and etc

Any requests?

TurboKat
08-03-2006, 09:12 PM
Thanx boys, mighty white of youz.

Fimp; should be in Newy around 4pm ish at this stage so yeah, we could meet you on the way home from work. Obviously, we'll exchange Mob. No's beforehand so we can let you know if we're running late/whatever.

Chalky; Choice aged eye fillet, imported German Bratwurst & Spanish Chorizo sausages I s'pose will suffice. [:p]:D Only <s>serious</s> joking, whatever is normal Chalk fare is OK by us.

Iceman
08-03-2006, 11:49 PM
Gibbo, are you com'n on the 4 dayer? I still need someone to carry my shit, as the GS has barely enough room for me let alone a bag.

09-03-2006, 08:53 AM
Chops, snags, big pot of honey chicken wings, potatoe salad, bread rolls, beers will do then.

I'll arrange to catch you guys as you come up the Monaro into Canberra.

Foxy
09-03-2006, 08:56 AM
Sounds good to me Chalky.

gibbo
09-03-2006, 06:58 PM
Are you blokes sure about 4 days, maybe we could add on a couple extra days and go via fucken Tasmania:Dthey tell me Perth is good at that time of year;). Yeah should be right, just gotta organise work. Iceman, are you going to meet at Lillydale? Are we doing anything about accom. on the way up? Should we get together soon and sort this shit out? Riding to Noojee for lunch at the pub on sunday if anybody is interested[8D]

Iceman
09-03-2006, 11:42 PM
I'm not going to the Lillydale meet up point, it would mean riding just over two hours in the wrong direction. I'm go'n to wait at Oxley and join in then.

As for the accom. I am under the impression that we are making it up as we go along. Foxy might be able to give you an answer, he seems to have a better idea of what's going on.

Deano
10-03-2006, 11:12 AM
need to organize accom for the way up and way back aswell

ideas anyone?

Foxy
10-03-2006, 11:37 AM
Kind be handy to know who is coming up on the four day ride with us too so we can try and fit a few ppl in each room.

Day one I was thinking of the Court House Hotel in Corryong

Day two I heard the best option is Governor's Hill Motel (also to be very weary of the fact that the NSW police training academy is in Golbourn and the surrounding areas are usually littlered with cops)

Day three is the house of Fimp

Day four is all organised by Davo

Iceman
10-03-2006, 12:10 PM
O.K.

We'll make a list. I'm in for the 4 dayer

Count us in for the 4 day trip, seems to be the most popular.

Rode thro Walcha a few months ago, stayed at Aspey Falls ( I think thats what it was called) what a top spot.

TurboKat
12-03-2006, 08:54 PM
All sounds good to me Foxy, I've never stayed in Corryong but I stayed in Goulburn years ago & there's heaps of pubs, motels, etc to choose from, I reckon one is as good as the other so if you've got good mail on the Gov's Hill, I'm in for that.
For the record, I'm doing the 4 day ride, as I understand it, there will be;

Spoke to Frank at the Corryong hotel motel, rooms start at $60 a double plus $10 per extra person, has 1 family room that will sleep 5 so that will be $110. Plenty of rooms available depending on peoples preferences, what rooms do you want- single- double- family?
And no, a family room does not include conjugal rights!!

gibbo
13-03-2006, 11:43 AM
Goulburn- Coolavin hotel $20 per head, no real secure parking.
Astor hotel motel approx $40 per head with a shed to park the bikes in. These prices are based on 11 people going. What do you reckon?

Iceman
13-03-2006, 12:16 PM

As for the phone numbers and stuff that sounds like a good idea, how do you feel about posting them on here or would you prefer to email them privately? Should we also set up a list of numbers for all those travelling?

Gix11
13-03-2006, 01:52 PM
I wouldn't suggest doing it on here mate. Create a circular email and get each person to add and pass on.

Was planning on printing out maps for everyone on the ride incase we get parted, I'll put everyone's number on that.
If everyone could email me their number, I'll compile them and email everyone back with the list

Hello Everybody!

You should be in for a blast of a ride.

Got back last night from 3 day 2000km+ trip through the Snowys on the Daytona.

All of the best bits of road (Mansfield-Whitfield, Tawonga Gap, Granya Gap, Snowy roads) are in fab condition - very little gravel or leafy shit on 'em.

Enjoy!

If you are on the list you are booked in, if you have any questions just ask. If you can't make it let me know, I don't want to fuck these people around.
