You will probaly find that the 1985-87 will be the same gear box
I think 2nd gear is the same.
Look at this link and compare.
http://www.alpha-sports.com/suzuki_parts.htm
The 85-87 engines were all long stroke the same as yours with the
difference being the head assy the 85-87 had single lobe cams where-as
the 91 model had the dual lobe cam.The clutch is also different the early ones were hydraualic with a different clutch basket the ignition on the 85-87 will be different also but you can fit your ignition to the 85-87 not a prob.
Oh and you will have to use your manifolds as the early ones were for
the 33mm carbs.
So if you want to fit the early one go for it, goodluck.
But why dont you just replace the effected gears Ok so it is an engine
out job, but all you have to do is split the bottom end no need to
pull apart the top end.
If you are going to pull the engine out for a swap try that option first.
Hope this helps.
Devo.

Howya goin peshh69 ( short for pear shaped?).
What are the patient's symptoms ?
My 1100w did second last year.
Just ended up replacing 2nd(drive and driven),5th,countershaft bearing and a couple of shift forks.
Got most of em second hand.
Stewie at Aussie m'cycle spares(QLD)was a big help.
Worthwhile searching for part nos online as well to see what else fits.
Ebay had one with a "spun bearing" a cuppla days ago.
