Just to put this topic in one thread....

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/SUZUKI-KATANA-1100cc-1981_W0QQitemZ4614713586QQcategoryZ102687QQrdZ1QQc mdZViewItem

Bikes like this are actually doing more harm than good to the name of Kats for sale. Asking over $8000 for this bike is just not realistic and the claims the guy makes are just farcical.

"THIS MOTORCYCLE IS APPROX 24YRS OLD AND EVEN TODAY WILL MATCH IF NOT BETTER ANY STREET LEGAL MOTORCYCLE IN AUSTRALIA."

Well if your talking about for "looks" then Im with you all the way, its a hornbag. If that statement is related in anyway to performance and handling then the guy is in for a shock when he lines up against something like a even CB600RR or ZX6R. Let alone the cloud of burnt rubber hed be left sitting in as he watched a 01-05 GSXR1000 disapear down the road ahead of him, without even having to getting out of 3rd gear... I mean COMON MAN!! Get a clue geez.... I love Kats as much as the next guy but lets be real here.

Then we have this one.
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Suzuki-Katana-1100_W0QQitemZ4614065766QQcategoryZ102687QQrdZ1QQc mdZViewItem

And I quote
"Suzuki Katana 1100
The first real supper bike."

I guess thats because Jesus is riding the "last supper bike" GET IT :D[:p] Damn I crack me up.... Supper bike..... for gods sake if your gonna advertise a bike for TWICE what its worth at least learn to spell. That Kat is very nice and worth a MAXIMUM of $4500 to $5000. I mean look at some of the Kats we have seen on this site. MUCH better than this one and a LOT cheaper. Its just opportunism of the worst kind.

Then you can look at this.
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/SUZUKI-KATANA-750_W0QQitemZ4614453599QQcategoryZ102687QQrdZ1QQcm dZViewItem

Now THAT is a good deal. The seller has obviously not been eating quite as many magic mushrooms as the other guys and still has a basic grip on reality. In fact if anything this one is a little cheap but its a very realistic start price. If I had $2500 I didnt need right now Id grab it and Id also grab the $1600 Bandit 1200 motor thats listed and let the two of them make beautiful music together...

Katana 1200.... NOW your talking!! [}:)]

Im certain Kats will average $6000 - $10000 in years to come, but right now there are still too many REALLY nice ones around that have been loved to death and selling for $5000 to even dream about getting $6500+ for an average one.

The beat up old thing I was told I had to pay $4500 for the other day was a joke. I told the guy "listen man for $5000 I can buy a MINT Katana probably with lots of trick bits and a big bore kit." But he wanted to keep dreaming so he still owns it and will continue to own it either till he takes some care of it or the prices finally reach his dream....

Yeah if you check tradingpost.com.au too there are a few up there and the MOST expensive is like $6000 or so and its an immaculate bike.

I guess Im a bit dirty on it because I have wanted to buy one for YEARS and I always get sidetracked like I have again with this Bandit. I mean at the time I bought the bandit I could have had any Kat I wanted and afforded to Mono Shock it or whatever...

So I dont want them to go up too fast coz I still wanna buy one lol :D

I think that to be really collectable they need to be limited in number or they had to have been "untouchable" on the track in the day. Going off the ads on egay etc there's thousands of them out there.

I was reading on GSResources that the Kiwi wire wheel model was actually more than just a standard Kat with wires...and they only made 20. That model might be worth something.

Anyone got any idea of build numbers for all 81-83 Kats?

Wasn't it 200 for homologation, and they were a 1000, for racing ?

Both those Kats passed in by the way... no bids... surprise surprise... I think if they packed them away for a year or two then try again they may have more luck.
