View Full Version : Ellie's SV 650

Mistress Ellie

My 2004 SV650.

Bought new last year to replace the 02 model I had in the UK. New "dog-bones" linkage's and a genuine Suzuki low seat have been added coz I am a short arse! Single seat conversion is unpainted 'cos the whole bikes up for a paint job in the future.

This weekends mods included Renthal Bars, SV grips, Gold bar-ends,
new rego-holder and a set of clear indicator lenses.

Pretty tame by some of your standards, but this is my first "modified" bike and things will progress! Rear guard is going next weekend and a new can will be on soon after.

Look forward to meeting more of you at some of the future get togethers at the Bearded Dragon, Bikemania or Macksville.

Bye the way Si - yes it is me who joined as Mistress Ellie ;)

We all start somewhere ... and they are sweet little FUN bike..

I'd have one in the stable in a flash ..... I'd just have to modify the oil pickup for wheelstands

Not sure I am up to the Wheelies - but my other half (Tony Nitrous) has been trying it out, did a big wheelie and stoppie and I have now banned him from riding it! ;)

Don't worry, I have not had a sense of humour bypass - I know what you lot can be like! :D

bit of advice about wheelstanding the sv's one of my friend up here did it with his other halves and blew the motor, they ( the sv's are notorious for looising oil pressure when wheeling.

Hello Ellie,
Nice SV, A friend has one and she's a shortarse as well.
Lowered suspension and took some foam out of the seat and she loves it.
Stainune sounds good too.
I think her Virago 1100 feels a bit neglected these days.

Interesting about the SV and wheelies.Had a run against a bike courier the other day,bit of fun from the city to the beaches. He pulled the front up going down a long hill (burnt bridge deviation, for those who know it) got into 2nd (I watched from behind right)and took it a couple of hundred yards pretty high up.The bike sounded terrible while it was up,backfiring and spitting shit out the pipe.Still, I was mighty impressed by the spectacle. When he put it down everything sounded back to v twin normal.
Also,hi Ellie,nice bike!

Thanks for the feedback guys. I think the bike will look much better next week when I have got rid of all the plastic at the rear. Can't wait to get a can on and a paint job sorted - then the bike will really feel like mine - watch this space.

Hey dRRew - when you get back on your feet mate, my kitchen is all yours - my birthday end April, so lets head for that - looking forward to it - Tony can come if he's a good boy :D

Springwood Suzuki.
looks OK, got an LED numberplate light.
Probabley waaaay overpriced but she got a bit of a discount
on account of both our bikes / riding gear / extra's all came
through them.

Think she's going to fit it as it is, then get it painted
or coated when the bodywork get resprayed.

She's now looking at Stainless chainguards and Exhaust hangers!

The Yoshi slipon can be hi mount too.

If you have single seat rego on it, pull the pillion pegs, clamp the mid pipe and turn it around a bit and it will match the angle of the undertail. Then just make a custom hanger for it !

It looks heaps better

Yeh the link pipe you have.

I helped a mate fit one a while back and it seemed to fit even better when we turned and made it hi mount.
The only drama was making up the custom hanger, other than that it's looks sweet poking up a bit more.

Sounds Good [8D]
The standard cast hanger is going anyway so it just means getting
one made up instead of over the counter.
Thanks.

You should mistakenly put a bolt in the air supply to the PAIR system too so it doens't pop and crap on the down run.
Pull the rubber snorkel from the front of the air box, cut the mesh off the air filter, prop the front of the tank up 8mm , unscrew the secondary throttle blades and leave them home and then retune it all with a TEKA.

Then it's a sweeeeet bike instead of just a sweet bike. LOL

Yeah, haven't done the Busa PAIR yet either.
Was going to crimp the pipes or buy blanking plate but have been told a marble will block the pipe and NOT fit into the metal ends!!
Not convinced but will take a look. Another job to do.

Thanks for the feed back on the SV, Ellie probabley wont say much, but she's chuffed with getting a bit of positive feedback. Thanks.

Yeh, don't do the PAIR mod like you do on a Busa/Gixxer the twins move too much air too quickly for the reed valves to flow.

Just block the hose with a marble or a bolt , do it in the hose between the air box and the solenoid and you do both at once.

Removing the STV's and retunning makes them much smoother to ride too.
