Had a look at your 14 at Springwood Suzuki Yesterday,
With the Jack-up / Bars etc it sure looks more "aggressive"
than the stockers.

Were you meeting someone, A guy asked me if I was
"suzukifreak" ?

Did you spot the Blue Kat that came in ?
Nice wide relaced rims on it.

I would have said "Hi" if i'd known who you were !

I was the guy in the NOS shirt with hair far from
being bald :D Was in the car fetching a box of SV
bit's for Mrs bike.

Not seen those shock jackup plates before.
Looks good with the rear plastic trimmed too [8D]
Any difference to the handling ?
More weight over the front ?
Turn in any quicker ?

Well of course i agree! ;)I belong to a 1400 site and most of those guys do the twin pipe, chrome oil cooler cover thing and then go touring, but each to there own. Most of the parts come from the UK some im VERY friendly with my posty ;) I took it out for the first time with all the new gear on last weekend and i was more than pleased with the reaction [:p]

That's an awesome 1400. The twin peepers really give it personality. Have you done any mods to the motor?

suxukifreak

Hey mate, good to see ya made it ;) Motor is stock, just a K&N filter and a TRE unit that plugs into the injection wiring. Got a lot of parts off http://www.austreetfighter.com.au/ . Got any photos of your 1400?

Still only stock except for the screen and rack I added for the trip to Phillip Island last year. I'm planning to go the K&N, Power commander and pipe soon.

22-01-2006, 09:46 PM
Yep, got to love that standard pipe ;) My flat mate has the same model in red & black. This a chart i found of a 1400 with pipes, and the differance before and after fitting a powercommander.

What does a Standard 1400 kick out ?
In comparison to the Dyno print-out ?
Although the standard 1400 is great value
(even with the 4-into-Blunderbus exhaust)
Add in the price of a powercommander and a pipe to get
how many extra BHP ? They seem some very expensive
ponies to me. Dont think im taking the piss, I went to look
at one about a week a go [8D]

It's all about torque with these puppies.[8D]

Peak power is about the same as the bandit (these figures are a few years old so might not apply for the latest models) at 98HP. What sold me on the 1400 was that the power kicks in low in the rev range, making it more accessible.

Tony Nitrous
25-01-2006, 07:51 PM
Mmmm...
Nice and Grunty.
A Bandit would be well down on torque but will make as much as
115 / 117 bhp with a good can on a stock motor. Cheap Power.

What I was getting at was you dont get much for you Money
when you add the cost of a pipe and Powercommander together
(plus dyno time) and divide it by the gained horsepower.

Chucked my Bus (with just can's) on the Dyno after a similar bike
with full system and powercommander, he pulled about 2 bhp over me,
with very little differance in the graph curve.
Them's a couple of real expensive ponies :D

Guys i agree that it is alot of money for 2 ponies, thats why i havent bought one ;) The guys on the 1400 site swear by them saying "wow a whole new bike, i cant believe the differance, money well spent". If i found a cheap one somewhere, maybe :)

Yeah, heard the same things about Cans / Filters /
Powercommanders / TRE's / etc on Busa's. Not sure if
they do "feel" different or if spending that sort of
money is a Placebo that things WILL be better :D

2 yoshi Cans and a TRE did nothing to my bike other than
the normal weight loss, bling gain and nice sound.
I thought the standard injection / Brain on a modern fuel
injected bike would be more than capable of coping with
a change of exhaust, filters etc. Making the Powercommander
both expensive and unnessesary ?

Hi luv the bike mate.... but those pipes are way too big....

steve1400
25-01-2006, 08:55 PM
My thoughts are that a pipe really is a necessity for these machines. The stocko is way too quite. If the bike performs well enough after the pipe and filter are fitted then that's all well and good. If flat spots appear in the rev range though then something like the power commander might be needed to smoothen out power delivery more so than just increase power output. Not sure if the 1400s are prone to flat spots though once you start changing pipes etc.

Nice 1400 - I was speaking to someone a while ago who said the biggest issue with em is that they dont produce HP after midrange.

Apparantly there are cam kits and other maps which basically give it teh power character of a bandit but with more meaty torque. Thats what it needs.
