OK, I am now the proud owner of an 04 VTR 1000 with 1000k's on the clock.
It came with Staintunes.
Any hints on some easy mods for more horses?
I don't wish to go berserk but a wise man once told me;
"You're better looking at 'em than for 'em!"

MMMMMM...Let's see now.... easy mods for extra HP....
Turbo/Supercharging [:p]
Fuel Injection :)
Nitrous Oxide Injection :D
TLR engine conversion [:0]
Purchase alternative motorcycle [8D]
Remember, light weight = faster, so piss the fairing, pillion pegs, etc off, drill holes in everything, run 1 muffler, carbon fibre wheels, frame, tank, bodywork, etc. You get the picture. [:o)]
If we appear not to have taken you seriously it's probly because -
YOU BOUGHT A HONDA !!!! YOU SINNER !!
10,000 Hail Marys & 1 Kawasaki/Suzuki.

Ah well thanks for the input guys, as for buying a Suzuki, got one, 1982 Wire wheeled Katana with 155BHP able to leap tall 400m strips at 10.7's in street trim, also got another Honda XR600 and recently used my sh!tbox Ducati as a trade in on the VTR.
Had a great ride on Tuesday night up the Old Road near Sydney and met a couple of nioce people as well as had a great fang.

I have a real hot mod for a VTR or any H#nda actually.....

BURN IT!!!

Hey Burns,

I know with Most twins that a simple power is easy to achieve. This includes a Valve Cut, Stage 2 Jet kit, Flowed and polished and the usual Airbox mods. These come in fairly cheap. The secret I belive with a Tiwn is too Keep the top end clean and fresh, always keep an eye on ya valves and oil quality matched with a good 95premium fuel. You'll notice a nice low end gain with the jet kit installed and proper tuning to suit 95ULP. also a 5deg advancer i hear is an advantage on the VTR 1000. Have you changed your gearing? I notice you have some good pipes on there too, Twins love to BREEEATH. Honda Twins have a chatter to them at idle when tuned correctly

Geez guys.... LOL VTR's are a pretty good bike.. I used to more or less race a guy into Darwin every other day on my K21000 Gixxer and he kept up mainly by being a fair bit madder than I was in the traffic but I never felt like I was just gonna leave him in the dust. I like em!

The most obvious mods like exhaust seem to have been done but from there your talking the other basic stuff lie B&M filter, ignition advance, jets etc like Boh said. If you wanna go silly take the thing to a company like PTR and get a headjob (for the bike) and without really ripping it to bits that should give you another 10-20hp for less than a grand all up..... But really speaking they have plenty of mumbo already. Get used to it before you bother modding too much. Good luck with it man its a nice machine!

I love most bikes and the VTR is in my top 5 mate, VTR Fuk yeah!

95ULP boh? someone is rippin you off 3 octane mate.98 is standard premium and 92 is common unleaded.anyone get 116 octane race fuel, apparently its only a mere $4/litre for those with an ANDRA licence.sure eliminates the ping effect.

The twins are picky mate, when they thirsty is nothing but what they crave

Thanks for the heads up gents.
I've been running it on the Vortex or what ever the top line stuff is. Interesting to note the 5deg advance as well.
Can anyone reccommend a good tuner in Sydney?

5Deg advancer is awesome when working with a few other mods not a massive dif but noticable for sure

As for fuel I'm running BP's top whack stuff, not sure what the marketing name is. Seems to go OK and it had plenty of mumbo on last nights run with the other guys for Pizza. Just starting to get used to the power as the old Duke had about 70hp and this is round 100. Mind you nothing on the old Katana I got sitting in the shed.
