Just get a normal size can, drill the rivets out, cut the can to the size you want and rivet the end back on again. That's what I did. It's stumpy as hell now.

Yea. That sums it up nicely. I rode the bike to my mates place with no can at all before we did it and when we chopped it we had that note in our heads, but afterwards our efforts seemed lame compared. Months down the track and I'm glad we went no further, it's loud as fuck and got a great deep tone. The best part is if you keep it mellow at low revs you'll get away with it easy but open her up and she growls like a rabid bitch. Try it mate, you'll love the results.

I charge $100 - $150 to cut down a muffler depending if I have to repack it.
You can do It yourself using a grinder with a 1mm cutoff wheel, just make sure you mark it accurately and that you cut the same amount off the inner pipe as the outer.
Oh by the way the new yoshi tri ovals and under seat jobbies are an absolute Fukker to work with cause the smart arses have welded the two end caps to the inner pipe & you can't pull the whole lot through cause the skin is on to tight.
You can't get them apart to repack them, but if your cutting it down anyway you can cut the skin to get the end caps off, just a bit more work.

We're about to start a new line of pipes from Blue Flame (UK). They are stumpy mini-megaphone style (like the '06 models....) & they're retro-fitting them to fit most Gixxers & R 1/6's post about '01. They have no external welds or rivets - they look horn! - I'll post some pix when I get some good quality ones....
