Hey theres some nice Kats on this post! Anyway, the specs on my bike are "reasonably" stock except the obvious stock 750, carb jet, rigid rear, 12" swinger extension, alternator blockoff changed gearing and lightened everywhere possible. It does a 10.7@125mphbut i have to say that even though its my bike its not my work on it. I'm currently changing it back for road use and will eventually fighterize it when i do the 7/11 mod. Thanks for fixing the photos also Gix!

A ridgid rear is just as it sounds mate, an unsprung rear end, used in drag racing these days.

Hardley Dawdling have a fake one called a softtail.

If I'm not reading this right, let me know but, it sounds like a rigid tail is kind of popular over there. What's the reasoning? Do alot of you drag race on the side with these? Or is it just the thing to do? not trying to be cocky, just trying to figure out what it's all about.

Nah mate, you only see rigids on drag strips, and Hardley Dawdlin' choppers.

A few of the guys have track day or drag strip only bikes, as well as street bikes.

Rigids are only good for keeping the thing under control when launching at the strip, but make for lousy handling street bikes (along with the hugely wide rear tyre / extended swing-arm that most drag bikes run)

You'll find that biking in Aus is very similar to the US. Probably the closest to the US in attitudes/behaviours/likes/dislikes. The biggest difference (apart from the accents :) is the size of the market, 20 million as aversed 280 million population. Streefightering is still fairly small over here.

HEY CHALK10, Streetfighters here is barely hit the map, the only guys who really know anything about them is the stunt guys and a handful of real motorcycle nuts.We are going to change that hopefully, there really is maybe 3 of us on the web from the states that are really pushing it. I know for me, when I roll one and take it for a ride, people are just amazed(which is what we are after), but most people in this area, won't pony up any money to have one done, so all of our business comes from out of this state. The other thing that hurts us is the riding time, in Wisconsin we are lucky to get 7 months to ride, and of that it's cut down because of the business. But, we'll be out there when we can, showing our shit off and laughing at the harley guys, and throwing out the 1 finger salute.

Yeah Streetfighters is only just getting going here in Australia, mostly from immigrant poms (Aussie slang for Englishmen).
This is the only serious streetfighter site in Aus that I know of, and we only have one streetfighter shop servicing the country.
But things are building, give it another couple of years and it'll be like the skateboard craze in the 80's, where the people who got in early will made a killing out of it.

Wisconsin? is that far from Pennsylvania? I think I have a sister living there (married one of you lot), well the name started with P anyway :).

Sorry, I posted in the wrong area a coupla times. Btw, Chalk10 is exactly right. The rigid rear just means there isn't any suspension components in the back so no power is "soaked" up by the the spring. No connection actually to Oldskoolsuzuki but its an absolutly awsome site for suzuki freaks of that era.

I dun think you shuld be having any troubles, Id start revving em up mate, they aint doing there jobs.

We'll eventually have Exben and Mundy doing the Orange County Choppers thing on tele, arguing bitterly over whether it should be a Kwaka or Suzi, should the swing-arm be a single sider or double braced jobbie, Nitrous Turbo or Super, all the while using a Honda tank as a spitoon, and a modified Harley motor to refill the workshop dunny (well maybe not.........modified). [8D]
Ozkat will do an occasional appearance flogging carbon fibre bits (including CF hip replacements by then). [B)]
Gix'll be the disagreement mediator, while looking for more topics to get them wound up about. [}:)]
Deano will be the material technical specs, constantly telling them what bearings they really should be using, and flogging tool boxes to the viewers (tool-time meets OCC?). ;)
Tony and Ash will be sitting on the couch at the back drinking warm beer and constantly shouting out "BUY BRITISH YA BUMS". :D
Aus will turn up occasionally dropping off semi-containers of dodgy bike wrecks. ;)

and Davo will be the guest who never has anything but a constant string of beeeps every time he speaks. :D[^]

Now that's a show I'd watch...

Meanwhile, I just heard something really fucked. Does anyone remember that picture I put up of the Harley with the Aprilia bits on it and the Steertfighters logo? A friend of mine just got back from getting his Buell serviced and he's mate's with the Revolution guys (Harley Customisers) who were there. They reckon the biggest request they are getting and hottest the news in the Harley World at the moment is Harley Streetfighters. The fuckers! Not happy. Not happy at all.

Nah don't worry about it Gix, just giv'us another reason to laugh at them when their 'fighters' can't keep up :)
And with such a tall bike, how long is it going to be before they go eend-over while trying stoppies and the like :) expect some very amusing footage to be coming our way soon :)
Plus their cash will help to stock fighter bits in local shops.

"Streetfighters" magazine was a spin-off from BSH.
(Back Street Heroes, Custom Bike magazine)
Several of the early feature bikes were Harleys.
Hard tail chop frames, built with more of a "drag style".

Tony.J.
Every BSH mag to date, Issue 1 about 1983,
Every Streetfighter mag to date, Issue 1 about 82 / 83.
