Got an email that you might like. The first Streetfighter Store in Australia that I know of..........

"AuStreetfighter Supermarket is up and running and will be taking orders from the 1st of Feb".

They contacted us and told us they have gear from Europe ready to go - I checked it out and they're on the ball, the stuff is good. Check it out: www.austreetfighter.com.au

Geez his pricing looks bloody good. a few things i priced elsewhere were nearly double the price quoted on austreetfighter. (ring a normal bike shop and ask the price for an ART muffler he is $100s cheaper) i really hope it goes well for him. i know where ill be buying from now on.

Hardly a "Streetfighter" store.

More of an "Accessories" shop.

Jeeez, you guys need to visit the UK.

Still, its a start, things can only get better.

Cant belive the amount of bikes sold with twin lights and a race can over here listed as "Mega-Streetfighter".

I chuck race cans, double bubble screen, polished wheels etc on a bike and to me its still standard!

Just my 5c worth, what would i know? ;)

I thought the same thing when I looked at the website. A good start but we need lots more.

I thought a "Streetfighter" store would be doing NOS kits, Turbos, Swingarms, aftermarket frames, numberplate flipers, fitting new rear sub-frames, doing frame mods, carbs and cams, coils and ignitions, etc etc.

Dont get me wrong, Good store, might be spending there myself,
Good start but a bit tame...

I think they need to read Streetfighter magazine :-)

G'day guys - I finally made it onto the forum! Thanks for the support of our new shop - please understand that before we can get into the frames/s'arms etc.. we need to establish ourselves in the market. As you all know, most Aussies don't really know what a real streetfighter is - we've got to educate them slowly! Don't worry, it's coming soon enough! Trust me, I'm from Yorkshire..... Finally, if anyone's got any suggestions for the site (products/pages) feel free to let me know and we'll try and cater for you.
BTW if you need any StreetfighterStore gear - he's one of our suppliers....[8D]

Man that store is just what we need in aussie , lets hope they have frames in soon , i have an R1 yar 01 that i am slowly converting into a streetfighter , some of the parts i have sourced from UK as in the ABM topyolk and risers and an undertail, but i still have the fairing on , i will try to post a photo in the appropriate section , i started building it after i saw streetfighter mag in a news agents about a year ago ,as i cant bend my neck over from spinal surgery i thuoght these would be easier to ride

If it gets here before next friday, then that would be great. Just putting the bike on a stand at the Silverwater Motorcycle Show on the 5th of Feb. If anyone enquires I'll pass on the site for sure...

Is it ironic that the Aussie Streetfighter Site has more 'poms' posting up than 'Aussie's'? Not that I care either way, as long as the good word is being spread!

I've been getting a fair few questions about my bike... I've been thinking of printing up some cards or mini-flyers or something to give to people?

Whaddya reckon?

Actually I don't find it surprising, us Brits have long known about the joys of Streetfighters, Aussies are just slow to catch on that's all :-)

No comment. I think you all know I'm a pom also.
J7-11 - "I've been thinking of printing up some cards or mini-flyers or something to give to people?" Your doing some good work down there mate and if you can fly the flag for us down there just let me know what you need. mad mundy,
My last post was written tongue in cheek, (as a joke!)
I was trying to point out that lots of folk here think anything with twin lamps and Renthals is a 100% streetfighter and thats all there is to it.
It should go without saying that I would expect anyone using this site to realize its a bit more than that.

My last bike in the UK also had twin lamps & Renthals :D
NOT what I would call a Streetfighter, just a 168 rwhp NOS (big 2.5lb bottle)/ Carbon can / Jacked-up Bandit 12 to get to work on ;)

Good on ya mundy. As long as there's guys who're buildin & ridin then we're going in the right direction. While we're on the subject - I threw a post on roadcarver the other day to see what the fairing boys think about what makes a streetfighter here in OZ. A few guys seemed to be thinking down the right track, so.. we're making a start. But we've still got a long way to go.
I saw you guys talking about frames the other day - as a general concensus if we started bringing in frames who would be everyones first choice (pipe down Ash!). I suppose we're talking about Spondon, Harris, Polygon, type set-ups i.e full frame kits.
Would you pay a few grand less (but still a relative SH*t load)for a Magnum-style frame that HASN'T got "HARRIS" on the tank? Would an Aussie care about the same things a pom would?

Tony Nitrous
29-01-2005, 09:19 AM
A copy of a Magnum frame shouldnt be that hard to do, should it?
No reason why something similar cant be done here?

At the end of the day its down to how much you value the Racing History, Excellent reputation, Guaranteed quality, Resale value etc of a Famous name.

I would consider a local built frame at the right price, But to take a risk on an unknown commodity there would need to be a considerable saving.

Ask your self why Spondon, Harris etc havent been put out of business in the UK by folk banging out cheap replica's?

Just my opinion, sure others will think differently.

Good-on-ya! I will get the Dyno printout for my Katana scaned in for you then, that was my "I built it" bike :D

Keep on building and thrashing 'em,
I love a bit of competition ;)

Spondonash
29-01-2005, 11:42 AM
I agree with Tony, it is fine having a nice frame but knowing who built it and the fact that it was built by craftsmen with dozens of years experience counts for a great deal. I certainly wouldn't pay anything like the same money for say a Harris or Spondon "replica".
When you buy a Spondon frame you are paying a bit for the name, that's not to say it's like a Harley but you are paying for as Tony says the quality, history and experience.
I think to a large extent an Aussie wants the same as a Brit, they want a quality PROVEN frame. I'm not saying someone here couldn't build frames but I will qualify it by saying I haven't seen the proof yet. I have seen Terry Princes Egli frames and various others but they aren't up there with the big boys yet. I did see some bloke building replica GP frames for around $3000 but again who is this guy and what experience has he had with frame building, I had never heard of him before.
If someone here started a company like Polygon and built good quality frames for a good price they would sell, although the interest in Streetfighters is lagging well behind the rest of the world I do feel we will catch up before too long and why not have a local company cash in on it.
To answer your question Qickdraw I would say bring in Spondon/Harris/Polygon in that order.

29-01-2005, 02:48 PM

FACT. Spondon chassis carries more than twenty years of racing heritage

FACT. Spondon's Suzuki kits are actually good enough for Germany’s bureaucrats, who impose some of the toughest vehicle standards in Europe.

Im sure some bike builders would be happy with a "replica" Spondon or Harris frame, then again some folk are happy with a $10 "made in Taiwan" watch too :D

No-one is made to buy UK frames, personaly I dont think they are over-priced (as a kit), feel free to go else where and see what you get?

I keep hearing "we can do that"
Well done! Dont say it, go and do it!

Dont get stressed folk,
Its only a bit of text on a web-site :D

Ash - are you still looking at working with Spondon as an importer? I wouldn't like to step on your toes at this early stage, or anything, mate!
That guy that built the GP replica was Mike Costin and I believe he's a fireman! He's got a site at micoproducts.net
I pretty much got the answer I thought I would as far as the frame builders goes - it seems the general consensus is that people recognise quality anywhere in the world (plus the fact that 99% of the people buying specialist frames would be poms!)

at least that bloke had the balls to build it .... id have a beer with him any day. people build bikes subject to the dollars they have. id have a spondon/harris tomorrow if i had the money. but i dont. ill stick with my backwards aussie style any day. but i wont knock your mega dollar frames either.

Ozkat, I think you are taking this a little bit too seriously. I don't know where this backwards Aussie style came from, we have said that we are behind the times as far as Streetfighters go but that's it. I guess some people don't know my humour too well.
I don't seriously knock anyone for having a go but the bloke who built that frame seriously does need his tools taking away :D
Anyway 99% of what I say is said with tongue firmly in cheek so don't get too [}:)]about it. I'm rarely serious except when I say the Brits make the best frames :D

Spondonash
30-01-2005, 08:10 AM
Qickdraw, I would love to do it BUT I don't think it is a possibility at present. If you can do it I would be only too happy to see it happen. I don't care who brings them in as long as some-one does.
I had a look on the microproducts website and the frames look nice, does he actually build them himself ? If so what qualifications does he have ? The price of the bare frame puts them more or less on par with a basic bare Spondon frame.
I think you are right, 99% of the people buying the frames probably would be Brits.

:) Yes, I know, just one of the many reasons I moved here.

You might have a point though. Lots of Streetfighters get their rebuilds / upgrades and facelifts each winter. Just one of many reasons the UK is miles ahead in the Streetfighter scene :)

Sure Oz will catch on. I see more "fightered" bikes appearing in your bike mags and things like this site can only be a help.
I look forward to the day I can shop / order / build like the UK guys. I have no objection to my cash staying in Oz, just as soon as the products are available.

* Even a guy in the Oz-Busa Club is having his "intelligent TRE's" (with gear indicator and an OFF in neutral setting to aid starting) made in the UK.

* I love this country but you might have to face the fact that its not a world leader at EVERYTHING !! ;)

31-01-2005, 05:03 PM
Sorry m8, but you might/might not be correct there (is the picture one of yours or off the .net) because according to SteelHeart

"Frames are mostly manufactured in 4130 ChromeMolybdenem steel tubing, this is the preferred material for the job, firstly for its immense tensile strength (over 900N/mm/sq) and durability, secondly its finish (especially when Nickel plated) Aluminium alloy 7020 T6 is also an option, "

But plating does cover the basic material, so either of us could be right. The swing-arms are alloy though.

I admit to being from NZ, but I'm a NEW AUSTRALIAN M8 ;)

Been here 20 years, haven't been home in 15, and I don't have an accent.

You wash once a week wot you lived in a dry part of England?;).

A guy from the 'Men and Motors' forum turned me on to Black Velvet's the other week. Haven't been that pissed for a bloody long time, took forever to get home from the local Irish club.

Love the stuff on Steel Heart's site (have seen some of their chop stuff in the past, real class), definitely worth a good look once I get a few dollars put away. That Kat is feckin' awsome, especially if it had a stock length swing-arm on it, have any more photo's of it?.

Does it make much difference, when importing, if a group order is done?

From the Oxford Dictionary "engine = complex mechanical contrivance for converting fuel into mechanical power eg. the internal combustion engine" motor = "what imparts motion, supplying motive power inc internal combustion engine, steam power and electric power" it seems an engine is only a internal combustion engine and a motor could be any 3.
