This month we have a Go Pro Hero 960p HD Camera up for grabs, courtesy of Mono Performance. (http://stores.ebay.com.au/MONOPERFORMANCE).


MONO PERFORMANCE

For those unfamiliar with MONO PERFORMANCE....

MONO is a regular member of ASF and has been a long time supporter of ASF - he's even a moderator of the forum!

MONO has started his own Ebay store, prior to a fully fledged website. With many years in the Motorcycle owning a bike shop called BIKEFIX in Brisbane for about 8 years doing smash repairs, paint work, tyres etc (and also winning Storey Bridge concorse - best paint), MONO has the same passion as all of us! MONO will also soon be revealing something very special that he is about to import into the country, but until then he is promoting what he currently has to get the ball rolling: SUPER CHEAP BRAND NAME TYRES and GO PRO HD CAMERAS.

MONO PERFORMANCE has kindly offered to donate a HD camera to the ASF monthly comp. Anybody that is familiar with these little cameras knows how good they are! Some of the best helmet cam footage has been taken with these babies, so check out the GO PRO website for more details: http://gopro.com/



HOW DO YOU WIN THIS??

With a prize like this we really thought you should prove to us how much you want it, so we've come up with a plan....

Show us (posted in this topic) a video or photo that includes the following:


1. An ASF logo, banner or shirt

2. The ASF member entering the competition

3. A streetfighter Motorcycle of any kind


Now that's not too hard is it? To give you a chance to get something together we are running this comp until MAY 2011.

Remember though, you do have to be a full member at the time of the judging to enter so make sure your ASF Full Membership is current.

That me, on my GSXR 750 figther and I do have an ASF logo on the bike but its bloody hard to see. Oil filler cap is one of Bens handy work and the Rad cap I won under the tank (I know not much good there)

With the Ride Hero Pack it allows you to mount the camera on the side of your helmet.

I've tried all positions on the helmet, and I find the right hand side cheek to give the best view because

ease of use able to be turned on easily with your left hand for guaranteed recording allows you to check that the camera is ON AND THE RED LIGHT IS FLASHING / RECORDING in your right hand mirror. This has been the most important factor as in the past when you thought you have got footage it wasn't even turned on. easy to check alignment if camera gets bumped Also when mounted on the cheek you get no helmet in the shot at all (when visor is down) It doesn't impede your vision and you can only just see it out of the corner of your eye (good to know that it is still there)

On the helmet gives an interesting view especially when turning your head side to side and seeing everything come out on the video as you saw it through your eyes. You can also give running commentary as the camera will pick up your voice.

So far mine has traveled over 8,000klms and is still stuck fast. :D

With this pack you can also mount the camera on the handle bars or luggage racks etc. Facing back on a Ventura rack is another good position.

Ok girls, sorry for the delay. I was on the phone to Nige for nearly an hour trying to work out who should get this one. We eventually came to a decision and we're sticking with it.

We had to decide on actual content, but above all the effort level and thought that went into it. Total head fuck, trust me...


So, here we go for the 3 prizes (in reverse order):

3rd prize - Tyre pressure and tread depth gauge
This goes to StuNVA. We realised Stu put shit loads of time into his video which made for great viewing but the only thing that kept him from the top was the old footage. I know this should have prompted us to get you the camera so you could get new stuff but there were two guys that we thought just went a little bit further in other aspects. Great entry Stu and thanks heaps for your effort mate. Send me your current postal address so we can get the guage off to you.

2nd prize - Emergency tubeless repair kit
This goes to Steampunk. You were so close to winning this mate it's not funny. This is what took us an hour to decide. We worked out from the date of your first post to the actual entry that you didn't pull this out of the archive but you went out there and set up and well composed, poster worthy photo, and by the looks of it (no gloves and angle) you set it up on a timer and tripod and did the whole thing yourself which would have meant a long trial and error session. (We could be wrong with all of that but that's what we reckon happened and got you to this 2nd prize for all the effort involved). Top shelf entry Gary and thanks heaps for your effort also mate. We reckon you'll be in for a prize if this style of comp comes up again. Send me your current postal address so we can get the guage off to you.

1st prize - Go Pro HD camera
We went over and over this and tried to look at it in every aspect we could and without being biased in anyway, and this entry kept comiong back to number one. So, we decided the winning entry was from Banditrod for his video in the car. Reasons are this:
1). Rod is under doctor's orders not to drive a car or doing anything stupid - clearly ignored here.
2). To even come up with this idea meant he had to say "Fuck it" I'm going to do something to make the effort and actual went ahead with it.
3). He had to round up a mate to help him with his plan, and then entrust his pride and joy in said mate's hands who gave it full tilt and had fun while Rod knows he can't himself.
4). Drove the car like he's been told not to, risked more than just a speeding fine, and made the effort to fuck around one handed with a camera in his car to entertain us.
5). If he went to all this effort with his current camera, what kind of shots will we be getting when he's better and when his kid starts racing?

Fuck me, if that's not a full effort for this prize then what is?

So congratulations Rod. I'm pretty sure your address is the same as always mate but let me know if not.

I didn't actually sign up to be part of the judging crew but it was a definitely a tough one.

Just in case there are any critics, the winner really fulfilled the concept of the competition and that was to get off the keyboard and get out there and prove just how much they wanted the prize (as was stated in the first post).

One of the main problems we faced was that we didn't realise was how high quality the still photos were going to be. We were truly surprised [:0]

To Drewboy & Steampunk those photos are definitely poster worthy and would make fantastic screensavers - top effort guys !
