damo1

*So the end result is single sided swing arm

*17x7" rear wheel

*new can that has a very deep growl rather than the sreaming crackel that it had.

The next job or project will be to sort the top exhaust and seat unit to somthing shorter and thinner to make it more sleek looking through the rear its a bit fat and long up there now.

I like to thank Exben for all his effort and wisdom going in to this mod with out him it would have been a long slow process and an apprentice(being me)being very lost through most of this project.

Cheers mate your a champ and your blood should be bottled for future generations to have the same attitude and knowlege that will deffinatly be lost in years to come maybe you could train up max so my boy has someone to go to when hes doing this shit to his bikes.

Cheers mate

08-03-2007, 11:36 AM
*03gix the sprockets where out in that the rear spocket was 8mm to far out so Ben machined
3mm off the sprocket carrier and then made a spacer of 5mm for the front sprocket to come out
futher it didnt fowel the sprocket cover and is now perfectly lined up.

*Phil me and Ben are trying to save wieght on this build and we both decided that there was no
way i could lose any more wieght so we left off the rear calipure instead.
Na just wieghting for more bits to turn up.

*Large at the moment no but im thinking of going back to the butane bottle for a while, but in the long
run its all going to change back there so i dont want to get to carried away waisting to much time on it.

*Chalky how dare you bag a man for a shit hair cut after all ive got a full head of hair and for me the difference
between a good hair cut and a bad hair is only about 7 days. But in saying that you are wright its a fuckn shocker
its all about bad decisions and i made one its not the first and it wont be the last.HAHAHAHAHAHA cheers mate nice
of you to notice.

08-03-2007, 03:08 PM
damo would it be possible to get a pic of the sprocket carrier after the 3mm was machined off, it would be good if you could also do one of befor as well

cheers Clive

damo1
08-03-2007, 03:21 PM
Sorry 03Gix no photos but i can tell you he machined off 3mm
which left 9mm thickness where the sproket bolts to the carrier.

Right pulled the old system and the 4" tip off and all the flame thrower gear out must have removed about 4kgs it makes the rear look better straight away takes some of the length out of it.

until thje next stage of the build.

Any suggestions? its got to be cheap.

Looks great Damo.

Its weird how the single sider made the blades tail look twice the size! Although i always find the blade tails look larger in pics than real life. Its hard to photograph them at a good angle.

Pity you cant make it to the fools mate. The blades might have been out in force!!

08-03-2007, 03:42 PM
Im thinking of ripping one of the dolls heads off my daughters dolls and sticking that in there
and then calling the bike the baby killer.

Or maybe i could borrow your pocket pussy Chalky and stick that in there and call it
a ripe cunt and charge the public to root it.

08-03-2007, 03:46 PM
Nice one Damo. Yea, the new hairdo caught me out as well. As for Pete wondering what Ben looked like, there are plenty of photos on the site of that handsome bastard floating around. That wheel is a real nice design as well mate, good choice. I plan to do the single sider on my new project as well so you might have a bloke with a bike on a trailer outside your place sometime during the year Ben. Can you still source single wheels? ......and single siders come to think of it!
Back to Damo. That bike is coming together great mate. I have to agree with the fact that the back end needs to go to Jenny Craig. As for the hole, how about gluing a piece of coloured perspex in there for now or something similar and add and ASF sticker??

03gixxerpilot
08-03-2007, 03:48 PM

damo1

No probs Si.

Ive also changed the gearing went from 15/42 to 14/45 its heaps better
and pulls like a 16 year old boy through the mid range now.

And its also brought the meaty part of the torque curve down in there as well
its made it a completly different bike awesome.

Helps with the wheelies to comes up nice and slow and more controlable.

Slingblade
11-03-2007, 08:47 AM
Jesus Damo, stock gearing is 16/43! You have gone two down on the front and up two on the rear, that is the equivelant of 8 up!!! It must sit on 8 grand at 110!!??

damo1
11-03-2007, 10:13 AM
Not a hundred percent sure the speedo is that far out now.

Im thinkn about 80ks is about 100ks on the speedo so if im close
at 130ks its pulling about 61/2 7 from memory so thats probly about 110ks
somthing like that you are trying to grab another gear but theres none left.

Ive worked this out roughly buy riding beside another bike that i thought was doing 80ks

EXBEN
12-03-2007, 08:21 AM
It's actually 15 /45 Damo down one up two.

damo1
12-03-2007, 08:28 AM
Are you shaw????

Because it was a 15 tooth on the front before and i thought we went one down
from that and thats why it took so long to get it in????
Well i mean they sent the wrong one first and we had to get another.

Slingblade
12-03-2007, 03:46 PM
I am going to 15/45 once my current sprockets are shagged.
Any lower and it would start turning into a stunter!!

damo1
12-03-2007, 04:07 PM
And the problem with that is???????????

Cruisecontrol
12-03-2007, 05:30 PM
15/45 is the stock gearing for the Bandits. I always thought it was a little high...

damo1
12-03-2007, 07:03 PM
Obviously the difference is in the gear box ratios between the badit and the blade.
isnt the bandit a five speed?
because the blade has asix speed.

Cruisecontrol
12-03-2007, 07:27 PM
Five it is.

Ha, I didn't even consider the gearbox. [:I]

Top thread Damo , You must be stoked , As an aspiring builder could you tell me how much roughly for the swinger conversion :)

damo1
12-03-2007, 08:20 PM
The arm cost me $350

The wheel cost $185

all the brackets/bolts for the brake calipure that im still waiting for $120

Had to get longer wheel studs $25

Chain and sprockets $250 had to get a custom rear one but thats because i wanted a 520 chain sprocket combo
if you stayed with a 530 you could use the orig VFR one that was $125 on its own

I already had the can laying around
The tyre was the orig

And yeah im absolutly wrapped with it just need to sort the seat unit out now.

HueyonaBlade
12-03-2007, 08:40 PM

The sub frame will be cut away buts thats pretty much exactly where it will sit once done and by the looks it will be an easy mod:D
With very little bracket manufacturing the front just needs some nut serts staight into the sub frame and a couple of bracets to the seat and the rear of the seat unit to the orig suzuki mounting holes.;)

I want your honest opinion i can take the good and bad so give it to me straight [:0]

Looks better than stock - a bit hard to tell how much though with that cowl (??) and the subframe still visible. The lines are good in relation to the tank. Go for it.

damo1
11-05-2007, 03:28 PM
Because i dont have the rear seat or orig seat cowl ill have to mod this one to fit it will be cut down heaps to follow the line off the back end of the seat unit over the tail lights so it wont be so obtrusive as it is now i just put it there to give the basic idea of it.

damo1
11-05-2007, 04:13 PM

any chance damo of cutting and shutting it so it sits in front of the rear wheel, not overhanging it? otherwise heaps better than the original

Rocket
11-05-2007, 11:48 PM

I reckon if you can get tail to finish inline with the back of the tyre or a little in front of it, you're on a winner.
That wheel really does look the shit !

exile
12-05-2007, 06:31 PM
The lines flow well from the top and bottom of the tank, IMHO its a very subtle seat swap and aslong as the subby's done well it will look like a factory finish [8D]

Hi Matey,

Your Blade looks fantastic, I am doing something like it my self, only I'm fitting an R1 subframe and seat unit, although it took a bit of figuring out how to mount the sub-frame its quite an easy job to do. If you want any information, templates etc.. let me know.

I am fitting a 96 VFR 750 arm and all is required is a spacer 25mm long with a 20mm hole through it. I have a 5.5J wheele from an earlier blade that will take a 180 section rear tyre and the spokes look nearly the same as the front wheele.

Anyway mate I'm in the my bike forum titled 'Another Blade' if you are about drop in for a tinny.

Killer Blade matey

Regards,

Jonathan.
