I've seen this bike zapping through Brookadavale (it's at the bottom of daBeacondahill)...I like it!It sounds really tuff too with that pipe.
Is that subframe as it came from the factory and what is the seat unit from?I like the shape but it's a bit long for mine.Cool bike though.

06-01-2006, 08:41 PM
lookin good damo.rear hugger could go missin tho.neary due for some new tyres mate.go see Geoff for a bargain on Avon's.but be careful, the rubber is so fresh its still warm.;) no theyre not stolen!

damo1
07-01-2006, 07:21 AM
YEAH THE SUB FRAME IS STNDERD BUT I RUN NO REAR INNER GUARD AND HAD TO MOVE ALL ELECTRICS AS EXPLAINED BEFORE.
THE SEAT IS A 99 BLADE RACE PIECE.
DAVO THE REAR HUGGER IS THERE FOR ONE REASON APPARIENTLY BLADES FUCK REAR SHOCKS FROM ALL THE SHIT OFF THE REAR TYRE SO THERE A MUST.
THATS WHAT IVE BEEN TOLD ANY WAY.
TYRES FROM GEOFF AH ILL DO THAT CHEERS.

damo1
07-01-2006, 07:23 AM
CRAZYMOFO WHERE YOU AT?
ID LOVE TO HAVE A LOOK AT YOUR BIKE LOOKS LIKE A VERY SPECIAL BUILD YOUR DOIN.

Gix11
08-01-2006, 12:56 AM
Who told you that about the rear hugger mate? Why would a blade be any different from any other bike as far as messing up the shocky is concerned? I pissed mine off on my blade and had no problem. If you are worried just make a Ducati style shock cover that actually sits at the front of the swing arm and sticks up like a shield. It will just look like a fin and show that back wheel off instead of having it covered like it is now and fatting the back up too much. Either way, you've still done a nice job there mate.

damo1
08-01-2006, 10:56 AM
Cheers gix i dont remember who told me or how the subject even came up about the shock.
id always tought it was abit od but i suppose it seamed vailid at the time.
ive actually been thinkn of cutting down it down and reshapping it to a tougher lookin shape.
Or should i ditch it, votes please.

crazymofo
08-01-2006, 11:30 AM
damo im on the gold coast.

i have a thread running in the "your ride" section theres some pics there.

You can be safe or just say fuck it. Guess what my choice was. I haven't had one on since 98 on my Gixer and it's been in all weathers. Bollox to it. Something like this would do the trick if you wanna be safe:

damo1
10-01-2006, 07:26 PM
Yeah your probly wright gix dont know why i bothered listening to the guy but it was the first time id had any thing to do with blades and thought he knew what he was talkn about.
But ill probly cut it down as i like the carbon goes with the 996 front guard.
Ah Davo thanks for the tip on tyres but Geoff said he cant get them any more something to do with the supplier.
Is there a group getting organized from Sydney to ride up to Macks in April?I did ask before but the thread i used went AWAL so i didnt hear.

10-01-2006, 08:14 PM
the Sydney boys are meeting up with the Newcastle members on the way up mate.i guess the Victorians and Sth Aus members will do the same.no arrangements about where have been made yet but it will probly be at the end of the Freeway(BP servo or sumthin) to keep it simple for all.Watch the topic "April Fools Run #2" for updated info mate.
soory about the dodgy info on tyres mate,i wasnt aware that he'd stopped dealing with the importer. If its any help the importer is Kenmar Imports at brookvale i think.Give em a ring and say your Damo from "Damo's motorcycle world",quote a dodgey ABN number and they'll sell you anything.

damo1
10-01-2006, 08:26 PM
HAHAHAHA ive tried pullin it on them years ago and got nothin but may try again.
Im actually in the early stages of orgaizin a 17" front wheel for the blade so ill hag off till then.
Cheers anyway.
Good to hear about the ride to should be sweet.

hey Damo, I'm bout to get myself a blade too and fighter it. Just keen so see how you went with fitting up the original clocks? I'm just not sure how to fit the big chunky bastards in until i get myself a little set.

Looks good anyways, are you planning on doing much else to it?

http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/upload/96454153132757.JPG

I would cut the hugger down as it will still protect the shock. if the hugger is extended down like i did with this one it will really protect the linkages at the bottom as well. Not sure about you guys but here in Scotland you would not want to be without a hugger, but the ones over the counter always look shite(at least for the 9r's).
I was thinking of finishing the bottom with some polished alu sheet about .5-1mm.

cammy9r
31-01-2006, 08:05 PM
Another thing....I once read in a mag that ex pipes that run close to the shock can heat up the dampening oil causing shock performance to change. Any truth in that?? I have my doubts about this while the bike is moving (air cooling) but could be right if the bike is left ticking over for some time. What you think?
Blades DO seem to look good fightered :D

fimpBIKES
31-01-2006, 11:04 PM
i think that was one of the issues with the TLR's cammy

only really a problem on the track from memory

damo1
01-02-2006, 07:48 PM
AH dane ill try get a shot of the clocks this weekend for you they actually fit sweet behind the rage headligghts.
Cammy ive got a 1mm alloy heat shield i made up between the shock and pipe it seems to be fine,as for the heat didnt seam to be a problem before the heat shield went in,so id have to say no truth.
nice hugger by the way,the whole cammy nine is a looker well done.
Whats the trick to marble paint work?

cammy9r
01-02-2006, 08:39 PM
http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/upload/67787452123250.jpg

thanks.
this was the marble paint on the 9r before the fighter project started.

the marble effect is from House of Color it is called a marbilizer. Available in several colours but a silver can be kandy'd to almost any colour you choose. The strongest effect is when it's sprayed over a black base, once sprayed on and still wet you can alter the texture by rag rolling?! i used cling film and some alu wrapping foil to create the effect then apply an adhesion promoter then kandy/clearcoat or just clearcoat. The overall finish is cool but not to everyones taste

Gix11
01-02-2006, 08:57 PM
I know this is off topic Cammy, but is that the last existing Ford Granada in Great Britain you have there? I thought they all died years ago and you've managed to make one survive in Scotland. Amazing!

That paint job is definitely unique mate. Well done.

01-02-2006, 09:33 PM
and that fence is just gold,in fact its almost red.Was that done in 2 pak as well?:D

Nice job there damo! Looks nice and neat.

I picked up my blade the other day and have ripped off the fairing, clocks etc, riding with nothing up front atm but some nice simple twin fighter lights, still need to get the fat bars on and graft my R6 seat section on, but I'm just having fun scaring the shit outta myself by openning her all the way up...lol

I decided to just piss off all the clocks and mount a little cateye bicycle speedo once i get the fat bars on.

I'll hopefully have some b4 and after shots soon.

damo1
13-02-2006, 06:14 PM
03gix it wasnt that bad a job really just mounted the lights first with the
brakets supplied and they fit in preatty well just a couple of little mount
brakets to the dash job done.
dane yeah its work in progress i ride the poor old girl every day rain hail of shine
so its a real prick if its off the road but im getting there.
i tried a cateye pushie speedo and found it a fuckn pain in the arse
but each to there own.

Lights look nice.
Are you going to put some renthals or something on it?
Not sure about the mirror not my cup of tea.
keep the pics coming dane good to see another blade on site.
good to see it takes up the whole garage to just the way it should be.

dane_ra
17-02-2006, 10:16 PM
Thanks damo, I've got the bars and just need to get some bolts long enough to fit the suckers on... some nice silver taper bars :D

Yeah she's a daily rider, so I kinda needed some sort of mirror, not that you can see much in it! As soon as you twist the go bit, it just turns and points at you... useless really.

Whenever I'm working on the bike, my girlfriends car gets pissed off out onto the street :D

But yeah, as I said, heaps of work to do yet, I modified the R6 fairing a bit today (trying to improve my plastic welding skills) so I'll be mounting it soon hopefully.

good stuff dane i like to see work in progress
keep the pics coming.
i just finished my underseat pipes the other day on my blade
and guess what the bike won't start as it been left up for the
last year, got it running for a little while
but now it won't start but i think its dirty carbs or
it needs new plugs.will post pics next week.

dane_ra
18-02-2006, 07:09 AM
I'll look forward to seeing your pics when u post em MC.

Also, question for MC and Damo, are you guys still running the 16" front wheel? Mine is but still has the shitty tyre on it that I bought it with, so I can't get a good feel for it yet. I'm told that they are a bit twitchy compared to the 17" but I'm tossing up whether to just throw a tyre on it and see how it feels, or to track down a 17" rim.

I'm told that some of the CBR600s ran the same disc stud pattern etc, but in the 17", so I know they are available to pretty much just bolt on without too much screwing around, but not sure if its worth the $400 that they sell for.

Any insights would be great

damo1
18-02-2006, 08:26 AM
Yeah im still running 16in but was trying to track down a 17 and found one they wanted $450 and thats not with a tyre or a pair of rotors just a bare rim.
You have to get a f3cbr600 or a vfr750 95,96,97 or if you dont give a toss about how many spokes to run a vtr1000 99 rim
They all bolt straight on with your original rotors and spacers and axle.
the 16in feels fucked when the tyre is worn so maybe throw a tyre at it they are a great handling bike and mr honda did it for a reason

22-02-2006, 04:44 PM
I've put the same lights on the GS now and am very happy with the amount of light they throw out. The parkers alone are about as bright as what my old low beem used to be and the new low beem is brighter than the old high beem.

No complaints from this little black duck! (Shit, I've been watch'n way to many Loonytoons cartoons lately, now I'm even stealing quotes from them. Oh well! My 2 y.o. daughter loves them, beats the fuk'n Wiggles anyday)

That's all folks!

Shes almost finished.
Based tank with a mazda3 colour dark maroon with a red pearl masked in the flame
about two days later and hit it with this bright orange with a silvery blue peral
three coats of clear later and wulah.
I reacon it looks pretty fuckn good my self its my first flame job and it didnt turn out
to bad even now it was rush to get it finished,it looks awsome in the sun light i tried to get a
shoot of it but doesnt really do it on film.
Also fitted my 17in front wheel today which came off a blackbird, was a bolt straight on job which made it easy.
just need to paint the rear wheel black to match and shell look pretty sweet i reacon dont know if it will be
done in time for the ride but i can live with that.
Also removed the rear hugger.
Recon it looks better with out it or with it?

I'm just waiting to get Bens DVD before I go around...it'll ease my pain of being such a bludger!
Next time I see your bike there Damo,I'll call in.
I had a look at the top clamp and it seems very busy under there...so I'll get some expert advice on requirements for fitting from you or Ben.
Cheers
