Hi guys...

i sold my child! The leather beast is gone :(

But i did it only because i had a offer to buy a one of spondon frame..
This Frame and swingarm are unique! Bob Stevenson build only one of this Kits!.
It is a constant chain tension frame kit, this is where the swing arm pivot is on the gearbox drive centre lins, so the frame at this point goes round the engine.

So now i show u some pics of the frame, the engine and the rest of the parts..
Yokes are custom made for the showa USD, Wheels are from Phönix Remus.. downpipes also own made....ah my english.... its to hard to explain all----

Here is a little media file.. the engine waked up after 6 years sleeping :)

That's some unique kit your have there Ralf. Nice work mate. If it has to beat the leather beast it is going to have to be something really special!

By the way, loved the film of the engine sparking up after 6 years with no headers on. Looks bloody great firing straight out the head.

very cool. ive seen a few of those frames(constant tension). When you say this is the only one, you mean for that honda? Thats an interesting engine paint scheme. whats the motor? looks like cb750.

That's a Yamaha FJ or XJR by the look of it.

sharky
09-02-2007, 01:05 PM
FJ mate. XJR's have allen screw rocker cover bolts, Fj's have hex head's. :D
At last another proper motor being used...;)

shift1313

wow, you guys know your motors:)i couldnt pick it out in my head.

badvan
09-02-2007, 04:29 PM
The Engine is a Yamaha FJ 1200 3CW .
But i will change it for a XJR 1300 these days.. Hehe the colorsheme is nice ! This is only to show u how hard it was to get the old paint down from the engine.. it was 3 or 4 times painted!

This frame is one off Alloy Tube frame.. Spondon build only steel tube frames..
There such a frame in steel for a Laverda 750 racing bike.. And my frame was build like this but for the FJ/XJR engine.
Consatnt tension frames where build by Spondon, Noki, Bimoto and one more which i cant remember in moment..

badvan
12-03-2007, 05:10 PM
After i decided to change the engine from a FJ 1200 to a xjr 1300, i needed to build all mounting points new.. (Turning and milling the new) adapters..
Now it fits!!
On Saturday i had time to start building the subframe.. Now only welding and some plates for the electrics..

Havent much time last weeks but did some mods on the spondon..
i build a monocoque and put some hydraulic lifters in. Now u can release the monocoque by key and the complete Bodywork lifts up.
Looks easy, was hard to realize.
After my wife crashes her car, i lost the money for the paintjob. Need lots of parts to fix the Alfa Romeo... :(
But looking forward to get the paintjob this year....

badvan

thx ;) but in the moment the bike looks like coming from junkyard LOL

its so dusty and dirty... i hate laminating and sanding in a small room..

But u cant open the door because its fucking cold windy and its raining each day...

cammy9r
13-11-2007, 04:26 AM
I know what you mean. Our Scottish weather is the same right now. I also had the problem with the laminating and sanding as i built mine in a shed, you would either freeze or drown if you opened the door :)

Gix11
13-11-2007, 12:21 PM
Nice one Ralf. Have you got a photo of the monocoque in place rather than up so we can see the style?

badvan
13-11-2007, 04:24 PM
sry m8 only these..

But i will try to make some pics in the evening..

scottish weather and german weather...its the same shit..
Oh i hate it so much.......
if i drive to work its dark and its 0-2 degrees if i drive home its dark and its getting up to 5 degrees.. Sometimes rain but in a few days the rain will change into snow...
And i build a spondon motorcycle not a snowmobil!!!!

badvan
26-03-2008, 04:48 AM

Chalk this year it isnt possible because i have to finish the spondon and the trip would be more expansive then i thought :(
If it stops snowing one day i will take more pics.. coldest easter till 35 years!!

and yes its nice to work on th carbs without mounting the gastank and the other stuff ;O)

only the mufflers are stll a problem.. did a lot of different db-killers, but still arround 110 db ;o/
The Handlebar holder isnt finished. Had to make it big because i covered a standard 22mm handlebar up to 30mm
