By now, most people in the biking world have some idea of what a Streetfighter is, although the origin varies depending on who you speak to or what you read. My recollection of the inventor of streetfighters as we know them today was Steve Burns who in the '80's started modify his street bikes to the max starting in 1981 with his turbo charged GSX1100ET, right through to his much publicised "MONSTER" project in 1991. His close links with Spondon engineering gave way to the Spondon frame being synonymous with high end Streetfighters, a trend which remains even today. (If you click the link on Steve's name you can read the entire history of his work).
Before long the average guy realised that he didn't have to replace his expensive crash damaged fairings and instead could create his own Streetfighter. There were no rules and no boundaries and favourite parts from other brands of bikes were being added to their original machine. It became an expression of the riders personality: no two being the same.
Streetfighters are ridden and built by true bike fanatics with a certain amount of attitude and a craving for originality who love to ride them hard and outside any limitations.
Stemming from Europe the craze has taken the world by storm and many Japanese manufacturers have taken note and even brought out many naked production bikes to compliment the genre. Relatively new to Australia, this site has discovered there are a lot of streetfighters hiding in the underworld, many being built by English ex-pats, but Australia is embracing the trend and we believe you will be seeing many more in the near future....

In 2000 after many searches for anything Streetfighter based in Australia I gave up the search disheartened. It then occurred to me that being a graphic / website designer, all I had to do was create it myself! (Some things are so fucking obvious you can't work them out!) Being from England (moving to Australia in 1995) I had a good knowledge of the scene in England and had dealt with a few of the now legendary names in the Streetfighter world over there. Although only having low budget fighters back in England the passion was still the same and had been since the second edition of STREETFIGHTERS MAGAZINE caught my eye with Dodge's GS on the front cover.
Over the years this website has gone from a small hobby site to a new hub for all things Streetfighter related and like minded riders around Australia. I have seen the interest surge and the support from the members is unreal. There are plans for a bigger presence off line soon to get the word out to the non-computer using Streetfighter owners out there, and I know there are many. So keep an eye out for the ASF guys near you (you can spot them with their shirts) and even become a member yourself by joining the forum. You know it'll do you good.
